What is EPF?#

Employee's Provident Fund (EPF) is a social security scheme for employees in India.

Who Must Register?#

All establishments with:

  • 20 or more employees
  • Certain notified industries (any number of employees)

Registration Process#

1. Documents Required#

  • Establishment registration certificate
  • Company PAN
  • Address proof
  • List of employees
  • Bank account details

2. Online Registration#

  1. Visit epfindia.gov.in
  2. Click "Establishment Registration"
  3. Fill form
  4. Upload documents
  5. Get establishment ID

Employer Contributions#

  • Employee share: 12% of wages
  • Employer share: 12% (3.67% to EPF + 8.33% to Pension)

Monthly Compliance#

  • ECR (Electronic Challan-cum-Return)
  • Due date: 15th of next month
